How to set the default file formats in office 2007 using group policy

  1. Get the Office 2007 group policy templates from the Microsoft website
  2. Start > Run > gpedit.msc

  3. Right click on Administrative Templates and select Add/Remove Templates
  4. Click Add and select all the adm files you downloaded in step 1
  5. Under the entries in User Configuration > Administrative Templates set the default format to Office 97-2003 format
