This works for slamd64 linux which is a port of slackware.
Interfaces are configured in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf.
Interfaces are controlled from /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1. This file is pretty well commented so you can figure it out but, for example, to restart eth0:
# /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 eth0_restart
